Normal working day: not less than 5 hours and not more than 10 hours.

Very early starts: LTP diagrams starting between 00:01 and 03:59 are no longer than 8h 45m.

Sign on / sign off: if you sign on away from your home depot, you still sign off at the same location you signed on, except where Appendix J applies.

General rule: PNBs are diagrammed to allow a break away from the cab environment.

Wherever possible: a clear 30-minute break will be diagrammed.

Turns over ADLT 08:45: a full 30-minute break will be diagrammed.

2 × 20-minute breaks: may only be diagrammed for turns under 08:45, unless agreed locally with the relevant LLC.

Up to 5h 59m: the PNB may be anywhere in the turn, including at the start or finish.

6h and above: the PNB must not be before any work is undertaken or once all work has been completed.

Midpoint rule: for 6h+ turns, the single PNB, or one of the 2 PNBs where 2 × 20 is used, will be within the 2-hour limit of the midpoint where this does not increase the overall number of diagrams required.

Walking / mobilising time: all PNBs are exclusive of mobilising, immobilising and walking times.

Continuous driving limits
Continuous single-manned driving with stop: must not exceed 4.5 hours before a break away from the cab is programmed.

Continuous non-stop driving: maximum 3.5 hours between any two points.

Protection against going over 4.5 hours: at least 15 minutes unproductive time must be included, and in late running a minimum 15-minute period will be protected and mandatory.

Between rostered turns: minimum 12 hours rest.

Rest days guaranteed: minimum 104 per annum.

On-the-day changes & late running
Movement from booked turn: on the day, drivers may be allocated to a different turn to maintain service within agreed parameters.

Extra time on a moved turn: not more than 1 hour above original day length unless mutually agreed.

Job completion: drivers must complete planned work in late running within company standards, safety-critical work regulations, and rostering / diagramming parameters.

Appendix K reminder: the maximum diagrammed day length is 10 hours, and drivers are not obligated to work over 10 hours. Work beyond that is only if mutually agreed and certain criteria are met.

Mutual exchanges
Mutual exchanges allowed: provided drivers can do the full duties and do not lose route or traction knowledge.

Hours on exchange: rostered hours of the original turn are maintained, and excess time over the exchanged turn is paid as overtime.

Normal submission deadline: before 12:00, 4 days before a day where production of the daily sheet could affect the exchange.

Lodging: introduced to cover services at network extremities when all other viable alternatives have been examined.

Lodge turns: limited to no more than 10% of depot establishment, with a maximum of 2 lodge turns per 7-day period for any individual.
